WIN DINNER FOR SIX, PREPARED BY ST. IRENAEUS PRIESTS

By Edna Ethington     11/8/2017

St. Irenaeus Church’s three new priests will host a gourmet dinner for six for the lucky winner of this auction item. Attendees of H.O.P.E.’s 28th Annual Dinner Dance Fundraiser on Nov. 18 at Knott’s Berry Farm Resort Hotel will have a chance to bid on the prize. Starting bid for this special silent auction item will be $450.

Rev. Binh Nguyen, Rev. William B. Goldin, and Rev. Ian Bustonera hope that their special dinner will help provide additional monies to purchase for registered area families who come to the H.O.P.E. Food Bank.

H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everyday) is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that operates the area food bank on the grounds of St. Irenaeus Church in Cypress on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The organization provides fresh and canned foods to approximately 150 to 200 low-income and homeless families who live in the cities of Buena Park, Cypress, La Palma and other areas within the parish boundaries.

H.O.P. E. also has a Christian Service office at St. Irenaeus that is open daily from 9:15 to 11:00 a.m., Monday to Friday. More than 300 individuals receive assistance each month for such items as bus fare to get to work, a bag of food for lunch, toiletries, lodging, and other daily needs.

The Annual Dinner Dance Fundraiser is the biggest fundraiser for H.O.P.E. Cocktails will be available starting at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. For a donation of $55 per person, guests will have a choice of fried chicken, salmon or vegetable lasagna for dinner and pies for dessert. Parking is free.

Tickets for the Harvest of H.O.P.E. Fundraiser will be available in the patio area of St. Irenaeus Church after all the Masses on Saturdays and Sundays prior to the dinner on Nov. 18. For more information, contact Bob Sgobba at 714-994-0743 or Val Cordova at 714-826-7513.
