A group of 25 universities and 15 countries surveyed the European family.

Early findings of the study highlighted the importance of the support of the family. Most surveyed said they depend on their families for guidance and basic necessities.

The report also revealed that half as many marriages are taking place as did 25 years ago. Worse, divorce rates have increased by 25 percent in the last two decades, according to the report.

Among the reasons young people are delaying matrimony are unemployment, the cost of housing and economic uncertainty.
