OC CATHOLIC RADIO: MEDIA DAY AT OUR LADY OF LA VANG SHRINE

Welcome to another episode of Orange County Catholic Radio, featuring host Rick Howick.

On this episode, we’re going to leave our broadcast facility in the Tower of Hope and take our mobile studio outdoors. Our host Rick Howick and studio engineer Jim Governale recently joined in the outdoor festivities at Christ Cathedral for media day – which took place a couple of days before the ‘solemn blessing’ of the Our Lady of La Vang shrine. You are sure to gain great insights from this lively series of interviews with Bishops, priests, and lay leaders!

EPISODE #241

Today’s podcast is a truly unique edition of Empowered by the Spirit, as sound engineer/producer Jim Governale turns the tables on Deacon Steve and Mary Anne Greco.

So what exactly have the Greco’s been up to during this ‘downtime?’ Like many, they’ve been embracing technology to spread the Good News like never before!

Listen in.. and you’ll surely glean some tremendous ideas, insights and encouragement from Deacon Steve and his wife Mary Anne!

Many thanks to our featured guest today on Call Me Catholic, author Mark Sullivan, for sharing the incredible details behind his bestselling book “Beneath a Scarlet Sky.” This is the true story of a young Italian hero in WWII, and the Catholic priests who helped him save countless Italian Jews from Nazi persecution.

CALL ME CATHOLIC: GUEST IS MIKE AQUILINA – “A HISTORY OF THE CHURCH IN 100 OBJECTS”

A big thank-you to today’s guest, Mike Aquilina! He shared some of the history behind the objects that he and his daughter Grace chose to catalogue in the compelling book, “A History of the Church in 100 Objects.” As it says in the introduction: “Catholicism is indeed the religion of ‘stuff’. Ours is the church of ashes and incense, icons and statues, bread and wine, water and oil, incorrupt bodies, and bones encased in glass.”

Mike helped to put these holy objects into perspective for all our Call Me Catholic listeners.
