STUDENTS GET CREATIVE

11/5/2018

Students at St. Junipero Serra Catholic School are able to explore, think, collaborate, problem solve and more in the new Creativity Labs that opened this fall, to the excitement of teachers, students, and parents.  The labs are part of the new Student Creation and Leadership Center (SCLC), which also includes a Production Studio with video equipment and green screens, a Think Space with writable walls for sharing and projecting ideas, a Performance Room to support the school’s music and theater programs, and the two Creativity Labs from Creative Learning Systems.

The Creativity Labs are state-of-the-art STEAM centers for students. Each lab is equipped with SmartLab programs, which are a unique combination of curriculum and assessment, hardware and software, furniture, equipment, construction kits, professional development, and ongoing support. As Beth Thomas, director of Education Technology at SJSC, puts it, “The Creativity Labs are like learning playgrounds for the students.”
