Charles “Stan” and Harriet Mudge will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their wedding vows Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the 9 a.m. Mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Hills.
Fr. Richard Delahunty, their pastor, will be the main celebrant.
The Mudges are long-time members of the St. Nicholas parish community, where they sang together in the choir for many years, since moving to the Laguna Hills area in 2000.
They met while both were serving in the U.S. Navy in 1945 and were married the next year. They have seven children and five grandchildren. When asked for the key to a long marriage, Stan says that it is love and appreciation of those who love you. Harriet says that it is commitment and that it should be 50 / 50. For the Mudges, it has been 70 / 70.
