Santa Margarita Catholic High School’s Mai Griffith recently was awarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition on behalf of Rep. Mimi Walters of the 45th district. The award was presented by two SMCHS alumni who are currently working in the congresswoman’s office.
Griffith spent a portion of her summer in Ghana, bringing supplies and volunteering at an orphanage and leprosy camp with a volunteer group. The volunteers spent time at the local hospital and clinic, shadowing and observing doctors in various departments.
Griffith has spent the last year gathering donations and supplies for this trip through her Hearts for Hearts Foundation. She created the foundation to offer medical assistance to countries in need.
