The annual Priests vs. Seminarians Basketball Game had its highest attendance since starting four years ago. More than 800 enthusiastic fans came to cheer on their parish priests and favorite seminarians at Mater Dei High School on July 20.
Fathers Brenden Manson, Ben Nguyen, Wayne Anbijar and Brandon Dang were among some of the priests who battled the highly competitive seminarian team.
The Seminarians were led by Michael Fitzpatrick, Ian Gaston and newly ordained deacons Revered Misters Michael Nguyen, Martin Vu and Daniel Seo.
Funds raised at the event go to supporting seminarian education.
The Seminarians held on to win 65-60. It is now all tied up, with two victories each. Next year’s matchup is sure to draw an even bigger crowd as the two teams face off to see who will claim the tie-breaker win.
