SANTA MARGARITA CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL HOSTS BIG TEN COLLEGE FAIR

By Maureen McAndrews     10/2/2018

SMCHS hosted a Big Ten College Fair on September 5 that was open to families throughout Orange County. Twelve of the 14 Big Ten schools were represented. The event began with a panel presentation where each counselor briefly described the attributes of their particular university and then answered questions pertaining to the college admissions process. The approximately 250-300 guests in attendance learned how the respective colleges view various aspects of the application, academic profile, and personal statement. The schools in attendance were: University of Illinois, Indiana University, University of Iowa, University of Maryland, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, University of Nebraska, Ohio State University, Penn State University, Purdue University and Rutgers University.

SMCHS Director of College Relations Christa Crafts was pleased the school was able to offer this informative evening. Crafts shared, “Partnering with the Big 10 colleges has enabled Santa Margarita Catholic High School to provide greater college access and options to our students and the Orange County community. The college admissions counselors were able to connect with students and provide individualized advice on particular schools while also offering insight into the college admissions process as a whole.” Crafts added, “Santa Margarita will continue to creatively develop similar events and making the Big 10 College Fair an annual event.”
