ROSARY ACADEMY ROCKED THIS SUMMER

Girls enjoyed everything from extracting DNA from strawberries, to making invisible ink

Rosary Academy was founded in September 1965 under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and administered by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange to provide greater opportunity for girls residing in the central and northeastern portions of Orange County to attend a Catholic secondary school. Students now represent a broader geographic range that includes the counties of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino.

This summer, the Academy opens its campus for students in grades 2 through 8 for a variety of summer program experiences. A group of students learn the art of crafting outdoor portraits and sharpen their eye for design and composition. Others learn how to express themselves through the art of ceramics. They learn a few simple tools to design unique and functional clay objects. For those in baking class, they learn the basics of measurement, kitchen safety, and how to make each meal a healthy one.

Young scientists enjoy four days turning liquids into solids, extracting DNA from strawberries, and making invisible ink, ice towers, and homemade lava lamps while learning the basics of laboratory science. Young writers turned up their creative work using commas, dashes, and parentheses as they create their narratives to take with them. Youth sports camps introduced students to basketball, water polo, soccer, tennis, dance, and volleyball. At the end of July, Rosary Academy hosted a Girls Lead camp where girls were guided to develop skills and find resources to dream big and lead with confidence.

Rosary Academy is an all-girls college preparatory Catholic high school where young women are immersed in a collaborative, competitive, creative culture of excellence. As students prepare for college and careers, they are invited to grow deeper in faith and live for more. Young women focus on their callings to vocation and service with the Blessed Mother as a role model. Rosary Royals are empowered to be the next generation of women leaders.
