St. Edward the Confessor Parish Knights of Columbus participate in Wreaths Across America

On Saturday December 14th,Knights of Columbus council 12451 from St. Edward the Confessor parish, Dana Point participated in national Wreaths Across Americaday held at over 2,000 military cemeteries throughout the United States.The mens organization chose Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego as their site. 

The Knights raised a total of $5,070 to purchase remembrance wreaths (338 wreaths total) that were donated to Miramar to be laid on the graves of our fallen military heroes during national wreaths day.They sold wreaths after all masses at St. Edwards the weekend of All Souls Day (Nov. 2nd – 3rd).The Knights also sold wreaths online on their group fundraising page.   

The men, their families, as well as members of the St. Edwards Parish School Cub Scout Troop and their families then participated in the wreath laying ceremony at Miramar on national wreaths day.A total of 50 volunteers in the St. Edwards group were there, along with thousands of other volunteers to help lay over 10,200 remembrance wreaths on the more than 12,000 graves at Miramar.It was a very emotional and memorable experience for all who volunteered their time.   

The mission of this event is toremember our fallen, honor those that serve and their families, and teach the next generation the value of freedom.Nationwide, over 2.2 million wreaths were donated and laid on the graves of our fallen military heroes at the 2,100 locations.
