A  new 100-unit senior living center called Clearwater of North Tustin is planned for a site near 17th Street and Newport Blvd. in Tustin. A ceremonial groundbreaking was held recently to mark the re-launch of the project that will provide housing for seniors as well as retired priests. When complete the development will include residential units, a chapel, a gym and eating facilities.

The Mary and John Prescott family donated the land on which the development will be built to the Diocese of Orange. They previously lived at that location and gave it to the Diocese for use as a site on which to build a school or a church. The Diocese is currently leasing the land to Clearwater Living. The project was stalled after it began some 14 years ago because the parties involved didn’t agree on aspects of the development. Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer was instrumental in helping all parties come to an agreement and gain approval from the Board of Supervisors. Construction is expected to take 18 months.
