MEMORIAL MASS FOR VICTIMS OF SRI LANKA ATTACK

By Anya Nanayakkara     5/9/2019

St. Justin Martyr in Anaheim was the site of an April 27 interfaith memorial Mass for the victims of an Easter Sunday terror attack on multiple churches and hotels in Sri Lanka. The memorial was organized by the vibrant Sri Lankan community in the parish. Everything was planned in a matter of days.

Over 300 people from all over Southern California showed up to show their support as well as to show that we are one in the face of crisis. People from the other two predominant religions of Sri Lanka, Buddhism and Islam, also came to show their support.

The memorial allowed people to pray for those who passed, for the hundreds injured, and for the surviving families. The Mass included a candlelight ceremony for those who lost their lives in the attack.
