By Staff     4/4/2019

The Marian Alliance Drumline took home first place honors recently in the Junior Concert Division and seventh place among 23 middle and high schools.

The purpose of the Marian Alliance Drumline is to enable students to grow in self-esteem, self-confidence, and to learn a new skill with the percussion instruments. Among the instruments students master are: snare drum, bass drum, quad drum, marimba, xylophone, bells and drum set.

The Marian Alliance Drumline meets weekly for two hours and on various Saturdays for extra practices. Any student in grades 5-8 at St. Anne School (Santa Ana), St. Joseph School (Santa Ana), and School of Our Lady (Santa Ana) can participate in this competitive drumline. Participating students compete with other middle schools in the American Drum Line Association of California.

The American Drum Line Association creates performance opportunities and events for thousands of young performers annually. Events occur throughout the year and include over 175 ensembles in the Southwestern United States. Performers range in age from 10-22 and participate in a variety of scholastic and independent divisions including Junior High, Concert, High School, and Independent divisions.
