JSERRA RAISES MONEY TO BRING SNOW DAY TRADITION TO ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST SCHOOL

By Nikki Nguyen     12/12/2018

JSerra Catholic High School raised over $4,000 through their “Movember” fundraiser to gift the young students of St. John the Baptist School with their first “Snow Day.” With donations, JSerra students and staff were permitted to grow facial hair and wear sweatshirts during November.

With Fr. Damien’s recent transfer to the Costa Mesa elementary school, JSerra decided to honor Fr. Damien by raising the money necessary to create a Snow Day for St. John the Baptist. Once they reached their goal, the school presented him with the good news and a customized sled at a ceremony during lunch on Wednesday.

The money raised over the amount needed for St. John the Baptist’s Snow Day will go to a non-profit for testicular cancer.

The date for the St. John the Baptist Snow Day will be announced shortly. Students from JSerra will attend to assist the youngsters as well as offer such treats as hot chocolate and snow cones.

“It’s such a thoughtful act of kindness to bring the Snow Day tradition to another school,” said Fr. Damien. “It speaks volumes about the JSerra community that they would spend a whole month raising funds to give the Snow Day experience to kids twenty miles away.”
