HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE DIOCESE

Welcome home 

St. Joseph’s Parish in Placentia will be offering a series called “Welcome Home” for Catholics who have been away from the Church for any reason and for however long. The series will be held on Thursday evenings from 7:15 – 9:00 p.m. in the evening in the Parish Center. The series will run from January 10 through February 14.   

The series offers a safe and welcoming environment where people can ask questions, share hurts and concerns and find a way to make a spiritual connection with God and the Catholic faith again. Topics will include “What are Your Questions?” “An Explanation of the Mass,” “The Church Today,” “God’s Mercy and the Sacrament of Reconciliation,” “A Behind the Scenes Tour of St. Joseph’s Church,” and “How to Keep Growing in Your Faith.”

Magnificat prayer breakfast 

This year’s Magnificat Prayer Breakfast welcomes Bishop David. G. O’Connell, Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles. Attend this breakfast event and experience the inspiring testimony that reveals Bishop O’Connell’s tremendous zeal for souls and great love for God’s people. Come and bring a friend to be blessed! 

The prayer breakfast will take place on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Anaheim. (South, 11767 Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, CA  92840) 

The cost to attend if prepaid is $28 per person. Registration at the door will be $33 per person. The meal includes a full plated breakfast as well as the speaker’s program. Reserved Seating is available for tables of 10 at $280 per table.

Marriage encounter 

There are two Marriage Encounter weekends coming up in the New Year. 

The first is February 15-17 at Country Inn and Suites, Orange County Airport. You can make it a Valentine’s weekend. The second will be on March 22-24, during Lent. The weekend can put the spark and romance back in your marriage.

Get ready for Mardi Gras 

Catholic Charities of Orange County will celebrate its 32nd Mardi Gras Gala on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at the Balboa Bay Resort, Newport Beach.  This year’s theme is “ALL WE NEED IS LOVE.”  The event raises much needed funds to help those in great need in Orange County.  The evening features a gourmet dinner, live band, dancing, drawings, auctions, and recognition of honorees. This year’s honorees are Gary and Kathy Manulkin, Fr.
