Father Rafael Luévano, a Chapman University Associate Professor of Religious Studies and that college’s Catholic chaplain, has been awarded the Fulbright Garcia-Robles Fellowship for the 2015-16 academic year.
As a result, Father Rafael will be a fellow at the Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México, D.F., one of the most prestigious Jesuit universities in Latin America.
Father Rafael will research positive responses to violence that rise form expressions of grief and faith in individuals, families and communities that are associated with the loss of Mexico’s missing and dead as a result of the illegal narcotics trade.
The Fulbright Program, according to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, “aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, and it is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Government.”
