The Diocese of Orange received top honors for its website and recognition for its newspaper at last month’s Catholic Press Association Awards. The annual award program is part of the national Catholic Media Conference, held this year in Green Bay Wisconsin.

The Diocese of Orange was awarded FIRST PLACE honors for its website, www.rcbo.org. According to the award committee, judges’ comments included: “This website is user-friendly, easy to navigate, uses compelling graphic design and images, and above all, has a compelling and consistent call to action.”

OC Catholic newspaper also received FIRST PLACE honors for BEST FRONT PAGE. Judges noted Art Director John Cheresh’s use of photography and color, as well as use of headlines.

The newspaper, the official newspaper of the Diocese of Orange, also received an HONORABLE MENTION in the NEWSPAPER OF THE YEAR category for weekly diocesan newspapers with a circulation of 25,000 or more.

OC Catholic received numerous awards for its news reporting and feature writing on subjects including religious life, social justice and faith formation.
