DAD-SON DAY AT JSERRA

By Nikki Nguyen     10/3/2018

JSerra Catholic High School hosted its 2nd Annual Dad Son Hike recently, an effort to provide opportunities for fathers and sons to join together for recreation and spiritual growth. Thirty-two participants — some young, some reminiscing about younger days — met at the JSerra Pavillion and hiked the Shea trail on the west side of Camino Capistrano Road.

The hikers prayed the rosary while climbing up to one of Orange County’s most picturesque vistas, and reflected on the Sunday Gospel with a literal birds-eye view of the Mission Basilica.

JSerra’s Vice President of Faith Patrick Reidy gave a short teaching on the Gospel before the men descended the well-known trail. The day concluded with brunch back at JSerra.

Anthony Vultaggio, a JSerra parent who organized the hike, said, “With our lives as busy as they are, we need to be intentional about carving out quality time together, to hit the reset button and show our sons that we understand what is most important. These JSerra events give us a chance to do just that.”
