COLETTE’S CHILDREN’S HOME A SAFE HAVEN FOR THOUSANDS

Mothers in distress find safety, comfort and support in this homeless shelter

By STAFF     9/29/2016

The need is great. The stats prove it. In 2015 Colette’s Children’s Home received calls from nearly 4,000 homeless women and children who needed help. The organization provided housing and support services to 569 homeless women and children that year.

Since the support organization was incorporated 18 years ago, more than 3,500 homeless women and children have been taken off the street. The program provides emergency shelter and then moves the women to transitional housing where they get support services that help them take the last step, to permanent housing.

OC Catholic TV talked with Executive Director and Founder Billy O’Connell about their programs, challenges and successes.
