“Grandparent Appreciation Day”

Host Peggy Normandin speaks with Dr. Vern Bengtson, professor emeritus of gerentology and sociology at USC, recently published a conclusive study on the role grandparents play in transmitting religious traditions across generations.  Dr. Bengtson will explains his findings.

Next, Normandin interviews Vince Iezzi, author and retired journalist with the Philadelphia Inquirer, who wrote a trilogy of books about what he learned growing up while sitting in the kitchen of his Catholic Italian grandmother. Iezzi shares some of the stories that most impacted his life.

Normandin then speaks with Fr. Richard Larcher, director of communications for the St. Anne de Beaupre Basilica in Quebec,Canada, where thousands of Catholic pilgrims travel to honor and seek intercession from the grandmother of Jesus.

Lastly in this “My Sainted Mother” segment, Fr. Tran tells the story about how his great grandfather’s encounter with St. Joseph and how it altered his family’s faith journey and ultimately his own vocation.
