TOP 10 CATHOLIC PODCASTS DELIVER BITE-SIZES OF FAITH, FIDELITY, AND FAMILY TOGETHERNESS

By Cathi Douglas     6/4/2020

Since the novel coronavirus pandemic forced us all to shelter in place – and closed our beloved parish church doors – I’ve been experimenting with Catholic podcasts.

I’ve discovered that well-produced, thoughtful Catholic podcasts presented by personable and knowledgeable hosts are a wonderful way to deepen my faith.

Many Catholic podcasts are available via Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Apple Podcast, or whatever app you use to access podcasts. Here’s my personal Top 10 list of worthwhile Catholic podcasts – but trust me, there are many more.

ABIDING TOGETHER

Abiding Together is a weekly podcast hosted by Michelle Benzinger, Sr. Miriam James Heidland, and Heather Khym, which the hosts say provides “a place of connection, rest and encouragement for people who are on the journey of living out their passion and purpose in Jesus Christ.”

I’ve been listening to Abiding Together at the suggestion of Katie Dawson, the Diocese of Orange’s director of Parish Evangelism and Faith Formation. The hosts feel like good friends to me now and I’ve listened to nearly every on one of the 137 podcasts they’ve produced since they began the program. www.abidingtogetherpodcast.com/episodes

BUSTED HALO

Busted Halo is a ministry of The Paulist Fathers. Its casual, friendly approach to topics like how to handle distractions at Mass and fatherly advice related to Mary, make Catholicism interesting and fun. bustedhalo.com/podcasts

WAY OF THE HEART

The Way of the Heart Podcast is a conversation with Jake Khym and Brett Powell about journeying through life with a heart fully alive. Although it seems to be targeted primarily to male listeners, I’ve enjoyed several episodes – the two hosts have an easy rapport and a sincere devotion to Catholicism.

Both men have worked in various ministry settings for more than 20 years. Khym lives in British Columbia with his wife Heather and their three children; Powell is married to his high school sweetheart Andrea; they share eight children. www.wayoftheheartpodcast.com/home/

WORD ON FIRE
