THE DAILY SHOW

Broadcast team at St. Angela Merici learns valuable skills

By STAFF     10/20/2017

St. Angela Merici Parish School strives to offer its students opportunities and activities that will cultivate leadership and self-confidence, attributes found to be some of the most important in creating integrated and well-rounded individuals. Online broadcasts at St. Angela Merici Parish School were created to do just that.

The Broadcast Team is comprised of 17 elected students in 7th and 8th grade who share news and important information with the entire student body every morning and afternoon via televisions in each classroom. Together with student council, the Broadcast Team airs announcement segments that are produced entirely by the students with supervision from the Technology teacher.

Segments run 10 to 15 fifteen minutes each. The co-presidents, religious coordinator, historian and other members of student council conduct morning and afternoon prayer, sports updates, safety tips, announcements, student activities and daily events among other fun and creative segments. While you will see only a handful of students speaking before the camera each day, those working behind the scenes are vitally important to putting on a smooth show. All members of the Broadcast Team are assigned to specific role, such as mobile video coordinator, video engineer, audio technician, cameraman and much more. Additionally, each member is required to know how to run each and every role on the team, fostering an understanding and ability to use the various technology required to make the announcements possible. Technology such as a video camera, teleprompter, green screen, sound board and more are used by the Broadcast Team.

Broadcasts at St. Angela Merici Parish School equip students with many skills that they will carry with them after their time at the school.
