St. Jude Medical Center has announced the appointment of Eugene P. Kim, MD, to the position of chief medical officer. Dr. Kim, who brings extensive experience in patient care and administrative leadership, will work with medical and clinical staff to preserve and advance the high standards of patient safety and care at St. Jude.

A highly respected hospitalist, Dr. Kim first joined St. Jude Medical Center in 2016 after serving as associate medical director of the Inpatient Specialty Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. In his new role, Dr. Kim will provide medical oversight, expertise and leadership to ensure affordable, quality healthcare services across the spectrum of care.

“Dr. Kim’s exceptional background as a physician and an administrator makes him uniquely qualified for this position,” says Brian Helleland, chief executive, St. Jude Medical Center. “His knowledge, insight and deep commitment to patient care make him an outstanding choice to help lead our efforts to bring nationally-recognized services and programs to this community.”

In collaboration with St. Jude’s nearly 700 physicians, which include virtually every specialty, Dr. Kim will help continue to strengthen St. Jude’s reputation as a health care leader. “A multidisciplinary, team-based approach along the entire continuum of care has allowed St. Jude to become a center of excellence in nearly a dozen areas,” explains Dr. Kim. “It is an honor to be a part of ensuring we continue to dramatically exceed national benchmarks for quality and service, while also helping to expand the hospital’s programs and services.”
