More than 200 Santa Margarita Catholic High School students and community members rallied July 18 to support the Sarah DeMille 5K Run, an annual event that remembers Santa Margarita Catholic High School student and cross country runner Sarah DeMille.

Sarah was a 4-year cross country and track athlete at the school who died tragically in an automobile accident in 2006, while away at college.

Proceeds from the event go toward scholarships and are awarded to students who will carry on her legacy and continue to promote her philosophy and that of the cross county team: Passion. Dream. Commitment. Hard work. Sacrifice. Believe.

The photo essay of the event was shot by OC Catholic Photo Intern Nick Vallone.
