MATER DEI STUDENTS START SCHOOL YEAR OFF RIGHT FOR OTHERS

By Staff     9/15/2017

Mater Dei students and staff collected and purchased backpacks and supplies as a school-wide outreach through its Campus Ministry, benefitting the student body at School of Our Lady.

Each School of Our Lady student was able to start the year off with brand new backpacks filled with, among other things, paper, pencils, crayons and scissors, enabling their parents to focus on providing other necessities. Additionally, Mater Dei Campus Ministry will provide the pads for the basketball poles to create a safer play environment.

The Mater Dei National Honor Society collected and provided school supplies for St. Anne School and the Mater Dei Renaissance Club collected for St. Joseph School.

In addition to supplies, Mater Dei students share their talents with the Marian Alliance students. They will once again volunteer for afterschool programs on site at all three schools. All families are encouraged to assist the Marian Alliance schools through the Fall Family Mass on Sept. 17th, which has set the Marian Alliance Schools as the beneficiary of the collection.

All that Mater Dei does is part of their ongoing outreach and commitment to supporting the Marian Alliance schools. Adela Solis, principal of School of Our Lady said, “Our partnership with Mater Dei has been a true blessing to our school. This ongoing partnership with our students directs them to Mater Dei as the next step in their educational future and with an example of the impact they can make on others in their community and the world at large.”
