MARY’S SHELTER GALA SUPPORTS MISSION

By Staff     5/20/2016

Mary’s Shelter hosted Celebrates The Gift of Life, the nonprofit organization’s annual gala on April 16. The gala attracted 215 guests and raised more than $145,000 to support its mission: to empower and equip vulnerable teen mothers and their babies for lives of dignity, hope and self-sufficiency.

“We are thrilled that so many Mary’s Shelter supporters, old and new, came out to enjoy our biggest event of the year, which featured live entertainment, gourmet cuisine, exciting auction prizes and a new video,” said Barbara Nelson, Mary’s Shelter executive director. Rev. Steven Sallot, Vicar General of the Diocese of Orange offered the invocation.

For more than 20 years, Mary’s Shelter has provided a loving home for young mothers and their babies who are homeless or from families in crisis. Mary’s Shelter provides a comprehensive program of residential care to these pregnant and parenting teens and their babies.

Collectively, the shelter has made it possible for pregnant teens to choose life, given a healthy start to over 400 babies and helped even more young girls put their lives on track for a healthy, hopeful and productive future.
