EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE

By Staff     2/17/2021

The County of Orange is now offering financial assistance to households that rent and that have been economically impacted by COVID-19. Up to $10,000 in financial aid is available to eligible renters to assist with the payment of unpaid rent and utilities. Those receiving assistance must be able to show a reduction of income and that they are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19.

The $65,000,000 program, funded by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, will continue to accept applications through Feb. 28. Note the aid is only applicable to unpaid expenses, not to future payments. Eligible households include those that have an annual household income at or below 80 percent of the area median income.

A household of two would be eligible if the total household income is $82,000 or less. For a four-member household the annual income cannot exceed $102,450.

Rental households in the cities of Anaheim, Santa Ana and Irvine are not eligible for the county program because these cities have their own rental assistance programs.
