DIOCESE TO CELEBRATE 40 YEARS WITH DAYLONG EVENT

CATHOLICS FROM ALL OVER THE DIOCESE ARE INVITED TO MARK THE MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY WITH A DAY OF PRAYER, FUN AND MUSIC

By Staff     6/24/2016

Mark your calendars for Sunday, Sept. 18, and join in celebrating the ruby anniversary of the Diocese of Orange.

The large and diverse faith community will come together at the Christ Cathedral Campus in Garden Grove for a full day of faith, fun and entertainment that includes a Rosary Walk, a 5K run, a speaker series, Mass and a music and arts festival.

There is much to celebrate. Officially established in 1976, the Diocese of Orange’s history dates back to 1776 with the founding of Mission San Juan Capistrano, our diocese’s Historic Mother Church. Today, as it is home to more than 1.2 million faithful believers, the Diocese of Orange is the 10th largest and one of the fastest growing in the nation.

The Diocese is now organized into 62 parishes and centers led both spiritually and organizationally by its fourth Bishop, Kevin Vann, and served by the men and women who staff the Pastoral Center. Home to the ministries, offices, and administrative departments of the Diocese, the meaningful service of those within the Pastoral Center empowers all aspects of the Catholic experience in Orange County.
