DIOCESAN MINISTRIES CELEBRATION SET FOR OCT. 14

9/5/2017

The Institute for Pastoral Ministry’s logo bears the words: “Growing in Faith, Preparing to Serve.” That sums up the mission of the Diocese of Orange ministry, which will be celebrated Oct. 14 at a diocesan-wide event, intended to help parishioners deepen their faith and mobilize to serve.

The annual all-day event at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana will celebrate the theme: Encounter, Connect, Evangelize. Speaking to that theme will be keynote speaker Fr. Greg Boyle, S.J.

Attendees will include more than 1,500 leaders, ministers, volunteers, parish staff and youth leaders from the four language communities: English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Korean.

Register by phone or by mail only. Call (714) 282-3078 for more information. Deadline for registration is Sept. 18.

Hi, I am a parishioner in the Diocese of Orange, I am concerned about this years speaker. Fr. Greg Boyle as Father Boyle publicly states he against Church teaching on Same sex Marriage. He said in an interview published on YouTube by LifeSiteNews in 2013, “Does God feel like same-sex marriage could it happen, I don’t think anybody who has a connection to God, and God’s understanding and depth of compassion who’s going to say no.” He remarked that his view was contrary to Church teaching, which he referred to as “the party line.”

On women priests, Fr. Boyle went on to say,”Instead of saying, ‘I’m frightened’ for the Church to say, ‘I’m frightened that women will be ordained,’ that’s honest, say that, but don’t say it’s a grave sin
supports so-called same-sex marriage, women priests.

This is a scandal that he will be speaking to Catechists in the Diocese.

    Sincerely and Respectfully,

    Elsa Salcedo
