A MOMENT IN TIME FOR MOMS

St. Junipero Serra Catholic School’s PTO launches a new book study group

Family values within our Catholic Schools must always be present in order to strengthen the world for our children. At St. Junipero Serra Catholic School, President Angeline Trudell puts the students and families first. Although St. Serra, in Rancho Santa Margarita, is one of the largest Catholic elementary schools in the nation, it works hard to keep a small-school feel by including its families in every aspect of what goes on.

Take for instance, the new A Moment in Time for Moms book study that launched in September. This Christian book study was started by St. Serra’s Parent Teacher Organization. The inaugural 6-week session started on Sept. 27 and continues through Nov. 7 at the beautiful St. Kilian Catholic Church in Mission Viejo. St. Kilian Church, one of the four parishes that funnel into St. Serra, graciously invited the group to utilize their facilities while the campus is under construction building the new Chapel and STEAM building.

A Moment in Time for Moms is a place where moms can meet to nurture their faith, support family values, enjoy fellowship and gain grace through wisdom. The group has been blessed with incredible speakers to share their stories and God’s words, from Lori Kilander, Kris Peters, Dana Maas, Kathy Bonin, Robin Emanuel, and Patty Hamilton.

The second session will begin in the spring – February 2018. It is the goal of the school to continue this ministry with more inspirational speakers, heartfelt testimonies, and faith-filled discussions. Programs such as this book club touch the root of what Catholic schools are all about, evangelization of the whole family.
